I know this is an older video but I feel that it's even more relevant, especially now that the MK2 dial is out. While I like that particular colour, I just feel that Rolex doubles down on trying to connect to both the Hulk and Kermit just by swapping inserts. I do have both Hulk and Starbucks MK2 but the latter invokes little emotion for me.

Great choice, if Mohamad Ali can pull it off with his wrist size, you are not in the position to say it's too small.

Unfortunately watches and their marketing around "collections" unlocks a primal urge in quite a lot of people. There are many out there who like collections of things. It is human nature to gather. You realise that you are getting into a consumerist trap (well some people do). I only have 1 expensive watch (A Farer Universal Mansfield). All the rest are relatively cheap but I like them all. A lot of my watches (90%) are quartz. I have some old watches that I've repaired. For my birthday this year, I bought a second hand Citizen Eco Drive on eBay that I replaced the scratched glass (with sapphire) and strap. I'm wearing it now. Three important facts about watches: You can't have them all. You only have two wrists. If it sits in a drawer, box, safe for most of the year, it isn't fulfilling its function. Other important thing. See them in person and try them if you can. A lot of the watches that you end up receiving are way smaller than you realised. A lot of the photography and videography of watches makes them appear bigger than they are. When you realise how small a watch is it might make you question what you are spending that money on. There are other ways to get a serotonin hit that don't involve spending money.

Thanks for your honest and contrarian take on what is a hype brand. In general I come to realize that I don’t like playing this game because they don’t make you feel good about being in that store. This applies to many other hype watch brands too.

If you follows any trends you'd know that trends are flexible and people always follow back and forth between what used to be trendy and what's trendy now. I'm sure smaller or vintage sized gentlemen watch will be increasingly fashionable .

I have the Patek 6119G. My second Patek (paying it off) is the 5212a steelweekly calendar with interesting complications than the calatrava range.

This watch gets so much hate.. I think it's from jealousy. I have this watch since 2015. It's perfect for every situation. I like it even more than when I got it new almost 10 years ago... my appreciation has grown after almost 10 years of adventures together.
